After completing a degree in engineering, Gill Bowker decided on a different path, accepting a job with an award-winning Manchester-based public relations consultancy. Gill worked with consumer, B2B and lifestyle brands, helping to develop and implement their PR strategies. She then moved into the broadcasting industry, managing the BBC’s Northwest portfolio of regional radio and television programming.
Two years later, Gill was headhunted by Lime Pictures to manage the PR and branding of their main programme output; mainly Grange Hill, Brookside and Hollyoaks.
Within a few years, she was promoted to Head of Press & Communications, overseeing a busy publicity department, whilst delivering objectives across a wider business agenda. This included all commercial and sponsorship partnerships, including Matalan, the government led DCFS, Netflix and Transworld.
Gill left Lime Pictures in 2010 to pursue a freelance career as a PR and communications consultant, and to further expand her experience within the digital and influencer markets. Her work with Faith PR will see her strengthening and creating long-lasting relationships and implementing strategies for a wide variety of clients.
Deciding to take the plunge and become a freelancer – it saved my mental wellbeing too!
